The Colbert Radio Control Flyers became a reality when a few guys with an interest in model flying got together and decided to form a club and invite others with a love of the hobby to join with them for fun and fellowship.

Curtis Scofield, Donovan Henry, Bill Greer and Pat Collins chartered the club with AMA in June 2006. A 60 acre field was acquired in the same month and after many hours of hard work, some days in extreme heat a 700 X 50 foot runway came into existence.  Our grass has done very good during the summer without a lot of rain, we now have an outstanding grass runway.

In January 2007 We joined AMA’s Introductory Pilot Program and we were the first club in the shoals with Introductory Pilot Instructor’s. We have two instructor’s in this program. More information on the Training Program page.

 

We are expecting our future to be very bright. We will soon be announcing a beginner flying program and annual events.

We are here for fun therefore we don’t spend a lot of time at meetings. Club business is taken care of by the Board of Directors. They as necessary.
